How to Get Started

  • As you did with your parts from the previous how to, lay out all of your parts to ensure you have everything you need to hand.
  • Next, take a look at the Bamboobee instruction manual that came with your parts. Remember not to start any building until you have a clear idea of what you’re doing and how! That way, you’ll avoid any silly mistakes down to oversight.
  • Follow the instructions step by step, taking your time and making sure you’re thorough. As each part is attached, your frame will start to look more and more like a bike!

Next, you’ll need to add on the parts that aren’t provided by Bamboobee, such as your wheels and accessories. Obviously, your bike will need wheels to get from A to B!

What sort of wheels should I be using?

While we let our customers choose their preferred rims and tires independently, we suggest that you use a wheel size of 700*32 C. We also advice a mountain bike rim (26 inches / 29er).

With that in mind, you should be able to track down a pair of wheels that suit both you and your bike.

By this point, your bike should be functioning and ready to go with all of its most important parts attached.

So what else can possibly be added?

Although your bike is functional, you may not have considered how it could be further enhanced with accessories and add-ons.

These include more visual accessories such as stylish leather upgrades, as well as practical pieces like carrier baskets. These can be great for displaying your personal style, as well as making your bike even more practical for your lifestyle.

Look out for Part 3 of our series to learn more about your options – as well as how you can utilize them on your newly built bike.
